Love & Liberation Over Toast & Tea

“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron.”— Dwight D. Eisenhower 34th president of US 1953-1961 (1890-1969)

Creative Reframes

littahauker:

  • Reframe your “To do” list as your “I get to …” and notice your energy change.
  • Reframe the hard parts of your job into an action movie where you are the hero.
  • Reframe your clutter into the art installation you have created entitled, “An Artist (or a Writer, or a Creative Rebel) Lives Here.”
  • Reframe the noise from your neighbors and the barking dogs as coming from cartoon characters and interpret what they are saying (or barking) with humor.
  • Reframe your fears as affirmations of growth.
  • Reframe your tormenting thoughts as primitive lost pieces of flying words… collect them, put them in a basket, frapee’, and pour over the summer squash as fertilizer.
  • Reframe the work you started and didn’t think was any good as BRILLIANT first drafts.
  • Reframe the trouble you are having with your life right now, as exactly what is needed to get to the next beautiful place you are meant to be.
  • Reframe the love you lost… as the life you found.
  • Reframe that picture you painted, it deserves a higher quality frame.
  • Reframe every blessing in your life that you have been taking for granted, as the gift it is … and pause for a moment of appreciation (interpretive dances of gratitude are also accepted).

Neoliberal democracy. Instead of citizens, it produces consumers. Instead of communities, it produces shopping malls. The net result is an atomized society of disengaged individuals who feel demoralized and socially powerless.

In sum, neoliberalism is the immediate and foremost enemy of genuine participatory democracy, not just in the United States but across the planet, and will be for the foreseeable future.

I want to be fierce in my femininity.

I want flowers to forever fall from my hair
and take root in the ground, where they refuse
to abate or whither, even
as they are trampled.
